Don’t take me too seriously, let alone this newsletter.
I started this project because I often have thoughts about big issues, and I wanted to write them down. Perhaps they’re dull. Perhaps they’re not. I’ll let you be the judge.
Typically my interests include politics, business, religion, and philosophy. I live in Arizona, so some of my content will be more niche in that regard, but my perspective for this newsletter is much broader, extending to the national, international, and even the metaphysical (though the metaphysical is often revealed to people on a deeply personal basis, not through some extraterrestrial communion with the cosmos and her creatures — so maybe my framing here is off).
I’m always open to feedback, so let me know your thoughts on any particular article, issue, or the newsletter itself.
A little about me
I’m a senior studying management (pretty straightforward) and civic and economic thought and leadership (not as straightforward, but an outstanding, innovative program — check it out here: scetl.asu.edu) at Arizona State University’s Barrett, the Honors College. I got my start in the world of work as an intern for Senator John McCain’s 2016 Senate campaign. I worked for Governor Doug Ducey’s re-election campaign in 2018, and then for Danny Valenzuela’s 2019 campaign to be Phoenix’s next mayor.
While at university, I’ve been involved with several organizations:
Outreach Director, W. P. Carey School of Business Council (Jan. 2020 - May 2020)
President, College Republicans at Arizona State University (Aug. 2020 - September 2021)
Statewide Director, American Conservation Coalition (Aug. 2019 - May 2022)
Membership Chair, Arizona Young Professionals Chapter for Childhelp (May 2022 - present)
Last year, I cofounded the Western Tribune — a news media company dedicated to carving out a Southwestern voice in American journalism — with my business partner and friend, Clay Robinson. Since then, the Tribune has grown to generate thousands in revenue, and garner over 300,000 impressions on social media. It’s a project I continue to work on, and am confident will blossom in the coming year.
Since my freshman year, I’ve worked at the Arizona Chamber of Commerce and Industry. I’m the inaugural program director for the Chamber Foundation’s Arizona Junior Fellows program, which was established in 2020. In short, the Fellowship is the only statewide program dedicated to developing next-generation, civically-minded, pro-enterprise leaders through applied experience in public affairs, business writing, communications, research and analysis, and organizational management.
The program operates from an interdisciplinary perspective, understanding that civics, business, public sector leadership, and the future of our state are all mutually reinforcing parts of the same common good.
In 2021, I converted to Catholicism, after wrestling with the idea in high school and early college.
Beyond its biographical nature and the fact that it will give context to what I write, this bio also serves as a disclosure. Please, keep my affiliations in mind when reading my work! I strive for 100% honesty, but I expect I’ll fall short from time to time.
And finally, the obligatory professional disclosure statement: Views expressed in this newsletter are mine and mine alone, and do not reflect the views or opinions of my employer(s), university, or the views or opinions of any other organization that I am affiliated with.
Can't wait to read more!
